We make theatre

Seenaryo co-creates collaborative, powerful and imaginative theatre in partnership with organisations deeply rooted in the communities they serve. The original plays put participants at the heart of the creative process, giving them a space to collectively share and explore their stories and advocate for their rights.

Our theatre programmes target a wide variety of life skills: language, emotional, social, cognitive and physical. By learning through, our participants develop artistic and performance skills, as well as skills for leadership, problem-solving and critical thinking.

Our theatre strands

  • Seenaryo Studios

Our flagship theatre productions are led by professional theatre makers and developed over the course of several months. They tour nationally, and sometimes internationally.

  • Seenaryo Cycles

Shows created with participants over regular cycles, giving the ensemble a chance to develop over time. We work in collaboration with local partners with whom we have a long-term relationship.

  • Seenaryo Showbuilds

All-singing, all-dancing productions that are developed intensively over one or two weeks, often in refugee camps or outdoors in the summer. The participants write and perform their own songs and paint their own sets.

  • Seenaryo Satellites

Plays directed independently by graduates of Seenaryo theatre projects, often as part of our Theatre Leadership Training. We give them a small budget to run a project in their own community.
