Abdulrahman
Irbid, Jordan
Abdulrahman is a trained plumber in Irbid and only had the chance to explore his interest in theatre when he came across Seenaryo a few years ago.
He used to be shy and was known in his neighbourhood for being nervous and quick to lose his temper. Having a creative space to tell his story and a stage to share it publicly has helped him to address some of those challenges.
I can now stand alone on stage in front of the whole world, without any fear.
The first Seenaryo production that Abdulrahman participated in was The Airport of Visastan in 2021. His character in the play explored the topic of forced marriage, a taboo in Jordanian society. Since then he has gone on to co-create another Seenaryo play – While We Were Dreaming – and has become a facilitator through the Seenaryo Scenechangers programme.

As a Scenechanger, Abdulrahman is taking training to lead theatre workshops in classrooms and community centres, playing a vital role in giving other young people the opportunity to participate in the arts.
