Through a performance language that blends theater, movement, and Palestinian folklore, the production reimagines the journey as a movement between past and present, where the story is not told only through words, but embodied through movement and performance. The adventure becomes a living question about place, identity, belonging, and the meaning of travel in a world burdened by borders.

“Wassel Salam” is not a restoration of history, but a contemporary journey that carries us through it… so that we may understand our present and see Palestine through new eyes.

A theater director returns from exile to create a new theatrical performance with a local theater troupe. Inspired by the journeys of Ibn Battuta, they seek to go beyond geographical borders — not merely as a means of travel, but as a way of exploring the Syrian experience between the documented past and a present filled with questions. As the troupe confronts themselves, their reality, and what they share in common, the performance transforms into a space of revelation, uncovering new paths for building collective memory through the journey.

And so the question remains: can journeys ever truly find their way to completion?
